As I struggled to once again put my daughter to bed last week I noticed that my brain has become permanently impaired. I was staring at her pj’s and seriously considering changing them because the last time she wore them she was up all night. Was this an omen, was there something about these pj’s she didn’t like? Unfortunately, I have been blessed with a sh*t sleeping baby and it’s taking its toll.
It’s a little nutty how we sleep deprived folks start to think. I once told my mom that I was changing the sheets on my daughters bed because maybe it was the smell of desperation that was keeping her awake. Tonight I changed her lullaby music to U2 from Bob Marley because I was worried ‘Babies sing Get Up, Stand Up’ might be too intense and that was keeping her up. I look for any clue and out of wild desperation probably start to sound a little OCD. (If I touch her right elbow before I put her down she sleeps longer then if I touch her left leg).
In fact I got so desperate for some sleep that I came up with the plan to drive 6 hours up-island to possibly see whales migrate. I figured that maybe my daughter would sleep on route and that would help her catch up (she wasn’t napping either). My dad was worried, rightfully so, and decided to tag along. We only made it three hours away before my son barfed and I realized this was a silly plan. We stopped for burgers, spent 10 minutes on the beach then packed back up and headed home. She did however sleep almost the whole trip and that seemed to carry over for a night.
Slowly this week it seems to be getting a little better although I’m terrified to utter those words. Plus I have no idea what I’ve done differently so have little faith that it’ll stick. But one can hope and pray right.
So if you have any families you know in a similar situation this is the meal plan for them, or maybe bring them food. I bet they’d love it if you made the meals for this week:)

Breakfast – Egg quesadillas
I scrambled a few eggs then placed a portion on one side of a large whole grain tortilla, topped it with shredded cheese some cooked bacon and then folded the tortilla. In a pan over medium low heat cook the quesadilla until just browned on both sides and the cheese is melty
